    Hina Ansari Vice President Iran

Iranian Vice President Hina Ansari on Wednesday used the COP29 climate summit in Baku, Azerbaijan, as a platform to demand the relief of sanctions against Tehran for its support of the terrorist regime. [emphasis, links added]

“We hope that the international community will come together to exchange knowledge, transfer technology and promote non-discriminatory access to financial resources without being hampered by political issues, Comprehensively lift unilateral sanctions against various countries, especially the Islamic Republic of Iran,Ansari said Wednesday.

“However, we must not forget the fact that: The current state of the world's climate is the result of industrial policies in a few developed countries Developing countries should not be deprived of their right to development because of what other countries do,” Ansari continued.

“We reiterate that this meeting should be aimed at demonstrating its good intentions towards a better future for all, while insisting on avoiding double standards in order to prompt all countries to take meaningful action to achieve these goals,” she said.

In addition to serving as Vice President, Ansari is also the head of Iran’s Ministry of Environment (DOE).

She was appointed Vice President on August 22, 2024 by President Masoud Pezeshkian. A surprise victory in a special election to succeed the late President Ebrahim Raisi.

The DOE began as hunting clubs in pre-revolutionary Iran and later became primarily responsible for managing parks and wildlife conservation.

Later, its mandate expanded to cover some very real and immediate local environmental crises, such as Iran's vulnerability to drought and water shortages.

The agency has long been troubled by difficulties cooperating with Western scientific institutions after the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

In recent years it has been transformed into an embassy for the climate change movementwhich is a difficult task Iran is an oil country looking to increase fossil fuel production and also The brutal theocracy does not tolerate environmental activities.

One of Tehran's main complaints about U.S. sanctions is that they interfere with oil industry profits.

According to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Last year, Iran's oil production increased by 500,000 barrels per day (BPD), an increase of approximately 15%. Iran's oil production has increased by more than 10% annually over the past four years.

Ansari’s complaint that “the current state of the world’s climate is the result of the industrial policies of a handful of developed countries” is standard climate alarmism, repeated by every country outside the G7 advanced economies.

Every developing country insists the entire burden of fighting climate change must fall on North America and EuropeAlthough The world's most polluting countries are China and members of the BRICS group of developing countries led by Beijing.

Anyone who still cares about actual environmental science should wholeheartedly reject this idea because It is virtually impossible for the Western world to do everything required by the Paris Climate Agreement.
