In yet another chilling example of Orwellian overreach, the G20 summit in Brazil unveiled a new international effort to suppress dissent under the banner of “fighting disinformation.” This latest plan is called Global Climate Change Information Integrity Initiative, Led by the United Nations and UNESCO. With financial war chests provided by countries such as Britain, France and Sweden, this measure has nothing to do with “truth” or “science” but rather with control.
It brings together countries, international organizations and stakeholders from around the world to promote and defend the integrity of climate change information, tackle disinformation, and increase climate change awareness and action. It includes a global fund that will fund research into disinformation about climate change and initiatives to promote information integrity.

Let’s call it what it is: a blatant attempt to silence anyone who questions the so-called climate crisis narrative. Under the guise of combating “misinformation,” these global bureaucracies aim to suppress free thought and silence critical voices from the public sphere. This is an attack not just on skeptics but on public speech itself.
Initiative: Green Wolf
According to their public statement, the initiative aims to fund non-profit organizations to conduct “research” and “public awareness activities.” They have also created so-called “international research networks” to identify and suppress so-called disinformation. In other words, they are creating a mechanism to label opposing views as dangerous lies and justify censoring those views.
In characteristic paternalism, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has declared that disinformation poses a threat to climate action and even democracy itself. Not-so-subtle subtext? If you dare question their dogma, you are the problem.
“We must also confront climate disinformation,” Guterres said. “Our climate is at a tipping point.”
History: Silencing the doubters from day one
This isn't the first time climate skeptics have been targeted. As early as 2010, Google began manipulating search results to reduce skepticism. A French study highlights how skeptics dominated online search rankings at the time, leading to concerted efforts to bury their views under mountains of alarmist propaganda. Blog likes unique ideas Claude Allègre's work attracted enough attention to provoke the wrath of those in power.
Now, thanks to collusion between big tech companies, governments, and nonprofits, the “censorship industrial complex” has become a powerful and insidious force. Organizations such as the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and private entities such as NewsGuard often conspire to label, silence, and delegitimize dissent.
We've seen this before. this twitter file The extent of this collusion is revealed, revealing how social media platforms work with government agencies to suppress stories and remove users who deviate from approved narratives. This is not to protect the public from lies, but to eliminate controversy.
Why fear?
The global elite fears one thing: losing control. Despite decades of propaganda, public skepticism about catastrophic climate change continues to grow. Each failed prediction—from an “ice-free Arctic” to the collapse of polar bear populations—undermines its credibility. With every new report showing the astronomical costs of net zero policies, more and more people are asking whether the so-called cures are worse than the disease itself.
Instead of answering these legitimate questions, climate agencies have resorted to silencing critics. They know their models are flawed, their data cherry-picked, and their policy prescriptions devastating. However, rather than reassessing their position, they have increased their scrutiny.
The true cost of suppressing dissent
This is not just a theoretical exercise. The consequences of silencing climate skepticism are real and devastating. Policies such as the Green New Deal and net zero emissions come with huge economic and social costs. Entire industries are being dismantled, energy prices are skyrocketing, and developing countries are being forced to abandon affordable fossil fuels.
Meanwhile, the so-called solutions—wind turbines, solar panels, and electric vehicles—are fraught with problems, from unreliable energy output to massive environmental damage. But pointing out these inconvenient truths now makes you a target for international repression.
Urgent call to action
Make no mistake: this is a battle for the soul of free inquiry. If climate alarmists succeed in silencing dissent, the consequences will extend far beyond climate policy. The precedent set is clear: don’t agree with the elite consensus and you will be erased.
This isn’t just about climate skeptics, it’s about the right to ask questions, demand evidence and hold those in power accountable. If these rights are given up, they will not stop with climate change. Once established, censorship will be used to suppress dissent in all areas.
The G20 initiative should outrage anyone who values freedom. It is not the responsibility of governments or international organizations to decide which ideas are permissible. Now is the time to push back against this authoritarian overreach and demand an open, honest debate on climate change and everything else.
Because once they silence us, who will speak up for the truth?
The fight to support free inquiries
For nearly two decades, Watts Up With That? has been a beacon of climate realism and a tireless advocate for free speech in the face of increasing censorship. As the world's most viewed climate-related website, it stands firmly against “disinformation” and provides a platform for science-based skepticism.
But this battle won't be easy. Censorship, shadow banning, and algorithmic manipulation make it harder than ever for those who need to hear the truth. If you believe in the importance of open debate and the need to challenge popular narratives, please consider supporting Watts Up With That? — whether by sharing an article, making a financial donation, or simply spreading the word.
Now, your support is more important than ever. Together we can ensure that the voices of reason, skepticism and science remain strong.
