As the enthusiasm for so-called green energy cools and “net zero” promises to eliminate “carbon emissions” fade, we are seeing recognition of the benefits of CO2. That’s right: More and more people are beginning to realize that the gas—widely demonized as a pollutant that harms the planet by overheating—is a life-giving substance that needs to be used in large quantities.
American voters know that President-elect Donald Trump has declared the Green New Deal a “hoax” and promised to return common sense to environmental regulations and energy development. His return to office depends in part on that commitment.
In Europe, German politicians whose obsession with green has fueled a recession face serious electoral challenges. Developing countries such as India are ignoring “decarbonization” commitments and actively developing coal mines and importing more fuel to stimulate growth and eradicate poverty.
Less reported are the stories of carbon dioxide emissions greening the planet and increasing crop yields. CO's mission is to educate the public about the benefits of carbon dioxide2 A coalition led by me. We sponsor speakers and publish science-based materials for adults and children. There is a lot of information about the role of CO2 Acts as a beneficial greenhouse gas, regulating day and night temperature extremes and serving as plant food for photosynthesis.
“Fossil fuels are the greenest energy source” by Dr. Indur Goklany is an example of our work. Did you know that up to 50% of the world’s vegetation has increased, and 70% of this greening is due to carbon dioxide emissions from fossil fuels fertilizing plants? Or that nearly 200,000 square kilometers of land in southern Sahara has been transformed from desert to dense grassland?
Few people have heard of doubling the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere2 At current concentrations of 420 ppm, this will significantly increase agricultural productivity with little impact on the climate.
Canada appears to have learned some of this knowledge, as Alberta's ruling United Conservative Party (UCP) recently approved a resolution promoting the beneficial effects of carbon dioxide2 and supports the outright rejection of national governments’ net zero policies.
“It is estimated that CO (in the atmosphere)2 A proposed resolution passed by the party said pollutant concentrations must be above 150 ppm (parts per million) to ensure the survival of plant life. “The Earth needs more carbon dioxide2 Support life and increase plant yields, both of which will contribute to the health and prosperity of all Albertans.
UCP calls for abandonment of CO2designated as a pollutant, recognizing the gas as “an essential nutrient for all life on Earth.”
The UCP's action was not welcomed by online platforms for climate alarmists such as DeSmog, which called the party's resolution “a blatant denial of climate science and reminiscent of the fossil fuel industry playbook of the 1990s.”
Desmogue reports UCP gives credit to 'notorious' CO2 Alliance as its source of information – and to our great satisfaction,
Beyond the political nexus within the climate-industrial complex, the carbon footprint phobia of recent years has posed a threat to everyone’s economic well-being. But this is a direct attack on a place like Alberta.
Perhaps after the Canadian Rockies, the western province's most significant natural resource is its vast oil sands deposits – the world's fourth-largest proven reserves of “black gold”. The oil industry employs nearly 140,000 people and generates $17 billion in royalties, and is deeply valued by Albertans.
“The problem is that net-zero emissions have become shorthand for 'leave it in the ground,'” said Danielle Smith, Premier of Alberta. She plans to fight “the federal government and a coalition of extreme environmentalists who want to completely stop oil and gas production.”
It’s a great day when we find ourselves on the side of those who struggle to thrive and be free, as they contribute to the storage of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, thereby enriching ecosystems and nurturing life.
To paraphrase Donald Trump: Let’s make CO22 Awesome again.
