Recent headlines from Bloomberg claim that President-elect Trump is ready to lift the Biden-Harris administration’s stranglehold on U.S. energy. Millions of Americans struggling under the weight of “Bidenomics” can finally breathe a sigh of relief. [emphasis, links added]
Restoring energy independence is not just about affordability, it’s also about protecting our country and strengthening our place in the world.
Without any sugar coating: President Joe Biden’s administration has waged an all-out war on reliable, affordable energy.
From day one, Biden’s agenda has prioritized virtue signaling over real solutions. One of his first actions was to cancel the Keystone XL pipeline, destroying tens of thousands of jobs and disrupting our energy supply.
Recently, his administration doubled down on efforts to restrict energy leases in Area 1002 of Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR).
This area is a specially designated area within ANWR designed to balance the dual needs of energy conservation and environmental protection, and Biden’s decision will directly harm Alaskans while increasing costs for families across the country.
As a fellow Scrantonian, Pa., it’s disheartening to see Biden refuse to build the energy industry in our shared hometown.
Scranton once thrived on the strength of its coal and energy workers, but Biden works tirelessly to dismantle the industries that power our communities and fuel America’s rise.
The energy policies he championed undoubtedly led to his government's resounding defeat in the November vote.
Biden’s bureaucrats have shown no mercy, creating a maze of red tape to stifle domestic energy production. From blocking investment in critical infrastructure to halting exploration, Their actions limit our oil and natural gas supplies.
Worse, Biden drags us back into the Paris Climate Agreement — a one-sided deal that lets big polluters like China and India off the hook while tying America’s hands. This, despite the fact Our country has proven we can reduce emissions without sacrificing economic growth or sovereignty.
In Alaska, we see firsthand how these misguided policies harm families. Rising natural gas prices, soaring heating costs and limited job opportunities are the bitter pills of Biden's energy agenda.
But the damage doesn't stop there. Energy independence is not just about affordable gasoline, electricity and heat; It is the cornerstone of national security.
Energy is the lifeblood of the modern world, powering everything from our homes to our military. Without reliable fuel, our armed forces are vulnerable. We need oil, gas and nuclear energy to keep our planes in the air, our ships at sea and our bases functioning.
Electric vehicle technology may hold promise for the future, but it's not ready to replace diesel tanks or gasoline-powered vehicles on the battlefield.
Reliance on foreign adversaries for energy weakens our nation. We are already seeing this in Europe, where dependence on Russian oil has created vulnerabilities that were brutally exposed during the war in Ukraine.
The United States must not allow itself to be at the mercy of its geopolitical rivals over critical resources. Yet for nearly four years we have been considering this dangerous possibility.
By contrast, during President Trump's first term, the United States became a net exporter of oil for the first time in decades. This achievement has not only strengthened our economy but also reshaped global dynamics.
By providing energy to our allies, we reduce their dependence on authoritarian regimes and cut off revenue streams for bad actors like Iran and Venezuela. Without this dependence, bad actors lose influence. Energy independence therefore not only protects us; It promotes freedom around the world.
The United States has abundant energy resources. From oil and gas reserves to advanced nuclear technology and innovative renewable energy, we have everything it needs to lead the world.
To achieve this, we must adopt all of the above approaches – maximizing the use of conventional energy sources while continuing to innovate in renewable energy.
If we want to make America affordable again, safe again, and strong again, we must unleash the full potential of American energy. By doing so, we can rebuild our economy, protect our country, and create a brighter future for all Americans.
