The Wall Street Journal editorial board wrote on Monday that attempts to blame California's catastrophic wildfires on “climate change” are a deflection from the real culprit. [emphasis, links added]
The climate left is desperately trying to “change the conversation about the failure of state and local governments to control the fires that Santa Ana winds regularly spark,” the Wall Street Journal editor noted.
The op-ed first debunks the absurd claim that climate change is somehow causing the fires, then shows how state and local governments, especially Gov. Gavin Newsom, have given up on protecting California residents from wildfires important role.
For the ecological left, “climate change explains the rainy and dry seasons, which follows the progressive path of climate change leading to all natural disasters except earthquakes,” the article states. “In today’s climate orthodoxy, severe weather is always caused by humans.”
The editors went on to copy a chart from the California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment that shows precipitation in the state around 130 years ago.
The chart is not shown trend Rather, recurring wet and dry periods were particularly prevalent in the 1910s and 1920s, “when carbon emissions were much lower than they are today,” Editors explain.
The editors wrote that while the climate is changing, “it is to be expected that rainfall and snowfall patterns in California will change” and “there will be fires as a result.”
They advise: 'Don't blame climate for wildfires' “The obligation of public officials should be to prepare for them and mitigate the damage when they inevitably occur.”
Of course, this is exactly what California’s political leaders have failed to do, but they seem determined to continue doing so.

Gavin Newsom's new budget “cuts on wildfire prevention while increasing spending on Medicaid, green energy and teachers unions.” The article pointed out.
Despite unexpected revenue increase, California's proposed budget “Cut CAL FIRE's 'resource management' plan in half to $466.5 million from 2023,” The op-ed reveals this.
At the same time, “none of the proposed new spending will mitigate future fires, droughts or floods or have any impact on global temperatures.” the editors argued.

They argue that “despite their belief that climate change will have catastrophic consequences, California Democrats have chronically underinvested in water storage and land management.”
Then when fire, water shortage, or flooding inevitably occurs, “Democrats blame climate change as if they can't do anything about it,” They concluded, they wrote, that what the country really needed was “political climate change.”
