By skipping Davos, Trump is now leading other international leaders in a “quiet exit” from globalist environmental rules that only strangle their economies and harm their people.

After President-elect Donald Trump's victory in November, I wrote that his transition team had prepared executive orders to withdraw the United States from the Paris Climate Agreement and open up Western lands to drilling and mining:
(a) The Ambassador of the United States to the United Nations shall promptly submit formal written notification of the United States’ withdrawal from the Paris Agreement under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. Such notification shall be submitted to the Secretary-General of the United Nations as Appendix A, depositary of the Agreement.
The executive order was one of the first he signed during a festive post-inaugural parade signing ceremony at Capital One Stadium.
… According to a list of priorities from Trump’s press office, he intends to streamline permitting and review regulations that “unduly burden energy production and use, including the extraction and processing of non-fuel minerals.”
He also plans to move to end land and water leases for wind energy and reverse the Biden administration's push to promote electric vehicles.
Trump sees energy prices as central to his mission to address widespread dissatisfaction with the cost of living, arguing that cutting red tape will help drive down energy prices and combat overall inflation.
“The inflationary crisis is caused by massive overspending and rising energy prices,” Trump said in his inaugural address. “That’s why today I’m also declaring a national energy emergency. We’re going to train, baby, train.
The crowd cheered him with great enthusiasm as he signed the order.
The full title of the command is: “Put America First in Environmental Deals.”
The entire set of newly signed presidential orders is listed on a heavily revamped White House website. The “implementation” portion of the executive order focuses on funding commitments.
…(c) The U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations should work with the Secretary of State and the Secretary of the Treasury to immediately cease or revoke any purported financial commitments made by the United States under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
…(e) The immediate revocation of U.S. international climate finance plans. The Director of the Office of Management and Budget shall issue guidance for the revocation of all frozen funds within 10 days of the issuance of this order.
In his speech before the signing, Trump addressed the largest contributor of carbon dioxide in fossil fuel emissions…China.
“I am officially withdrawing the United States from the Paris Climate Agreement – a one-sided agreement that harms American industry while allowing China to pollute. We will no longer cripple our economy to serve a globalist agenda!
As an added bonus, Trump does not plan to attend this year's World Economic Forum annual meeting in Davos. In fact, many international leaders are “quietly withdrawing” from globalist environmental agreements that only strangle their economies and harm their people.
While Donald Trump, who was inaugurated as US President on Monday, is expected to address the forum via live video link on Thursday, some key leaders will miss the event entirely.
These include Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping, as well as French President Emmanuel Macron, Italian leader Giorgio Meloni and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
The only head of state among the Group of Seven (G7) industrialized nations that includes the United States, Europe's largest economies, Canada and Japan to attend the summit in person is outgoing German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
I look forward to energy independence and regulations that strike the right balance between legitimate environmental concerns and efficient natural resource development.
