Stuart Cohen, a National Renewable Energy Lab, said batteries are a choice. But another method is pump storage hydropower.
The pumping hydraulic system requires two reservoirs, one is higher than the other.
When solar and wind energy is sufficient, this power can be used to pump water from the lower part.
Cohen: “Then, when you really need electricity, you will let the water beside the radial.”
