AI is not good for the environment, and the problem is greater than energy consumption

However, energy consumption is only part of its broader environmental impact.

At the end of last year, the popular AI Chatbot ChatGPT operated by OpenAI celebrated the second birthday. In the short existence, the platform has accumulated more than 300 million users a week, and they sends about 1 billion news to the chat robot every day.

In other parts of the technique, there are fewer milestones in other companies. Alphabet is the parent company of Google, which recently announced that its greenhouse gas emissions have increased by 48 %. Since 2019, Microsoft has roughly announced that its emissions have increased by 29 % since 2020.

The emerging artificial intelligence industry requires a lot of electricity to plan to retire several coal -fired power plants. According to some estimates, by 2030, the collective needs of AI and other digital technologies will account for 20 % of global electricity.

The interesting point of this article is that the author has not even tried to claim that renewable energy has a place in this new world order. They are still upset with climate change, but no one will hold coal, I mean calling.
The green movement was finally downgraded back to its appropriate position in society-the marginal movement of radicals ignored.
