On Thursday morning, cold and wet weather prompted many schools to open or completely close in the Baltimore area.
The National Weather Service’s winter weather consultation in the Baltimore area begins at 9 p.m. Wednesday and extends to 10 a.m. Thursday.

It said on social media platform X that Maryland Transportation Administration staff are monitoring and treating toll road conditions, advising residents to consider delaying travel until the morning due to the potential of icy conditions.
According to the NWS, frozen rain and sleet began overnight but should be gradually removed from the area. It is expected to have spotted fog between 1 pm and 2 pm in the afternoon, approaching the age of 46. The night low is 41 and there is more fog.
Howard County Public School System, Baltimore County Public Schools. Carroll County Public Schools and Harford County Public Schools were also closed for the day.
Cecil, Frederick, Montgomery and Prince George County public schools will be postponed by two hours Thursday.
Several regional private schools choose delayed courses: Loyola Blakefield, Gerstell Academy, Gilman School and St. Paul's Schools.
Maryland University Park; Towson University; Coppin State University
Baltimore City Circuit Court and Baltimore City Community College will be open at 10 a.m.
Non-emergency employees in the City of Baltimore and all other counties in the state will be open at noon for free holidays between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. in the Carol County Government Building and the Carol Transit System.
All public libraries in Baltimore County will be open Thursday at 11 a.m.
The sun is expected to glow to end Friday's working week with temperatures rising at an altitude of around 49, with west winds of 7 to 13 mph and gusts of up to 21 mph. It is expected that the evening will be mostly cloudy, about 31 lower, and the wind will be calmer.
On Saturday, it snowed before 4 p.m. and then rained, nearly 38 years old. The likelihood of precipitation is 60%. The evening will bring more rain, possibly mixed with snow, and then all rain after 10 pm, while the lowest is about 35 years old. The likelihood of precipitation is 90%.
Sunday should be mostly sunny and warm, high up to 47, while overnight lows are about 30.
Precipitation is expected to return next week. On Monday, the high will be 41, but there are 29 chances of snowfall at night.
More snowfall is expected Tuesday, with a high of nearly 40. The likelihood of precipitation is 80%.
The chances of snow and ice will last until Wednesday. Otherwise, it will be mostly cloudy, nearly 41.
