Chris Wright, secretary of the Department of Energy (DOE), announced his first secretary decree on Wednesday to overturn green energy policies of many former presidents Joe Biden and restore U.S. “Energy Advantage”.
According to the press release, Wright's orders are designed to reduce energy costs in the United States and expand domestic energy production. The order outlines several plans by the DOE to improve the U.S. energy sector by addressing problems arising from several energy regulations in the Biden era.
The DOE's order also outlines a plan to begin a comprehensive review of the agency's equipment standards program to make Americans' household appliances and products more affordable for Americans and to promote consumer choice of appliances. The Biden-Harris Administration has led the regulation of the use of certain gas appliances, including the introduction of some strict efficiency rules for gas furnaces and some water heaters.
According to the press release, DOE also plans to “enhance” the “reliability and safety” of the U.S. power grid. It is worth noting that the Biden-Harris administration proposed strict emission standards for U.S. power plants in April 2024, leading some grid operators to warn that government standards are pushing grids to the potential Conditions that lead to power outage.
Wright further wrote that the U.S. Department of Energy plans to “release” U.S. nuclear energy. It is worth noting that the only nuclear reactor to go live in the U.S. over the past few years is the Vogtle plant in Georgia, which linked its fourth unit to the grid in March 2024 after facing significant delays and financial hurdles. .
The agency plans to supplement the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR). According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), the Biden-Harris administration released about 180 million barrels before the 2022 midterm elections, bringing reserves close to their lowest levels in about 40 years.
The press release also cites Biden's liquefied natural gas (LNG) pause – Trump ends on Jan. 21 – the action will be held after the Biden-Harris administration suspends certain new LNG export facilities The lawsuit restored the agency's “regular order”. In January 2024, it will be assessed whether it is in the public interest.

“President Trump outlines a bold and ambitious agenda to unleash U.S. energy at home and abroad to restore energy advantages,” the press release said. “To compete globally, we must expand energy production and lower U.S. households and The energy costs of enterprises. The United States must lead the world’s innovation and technological breakthroughs, including speeding up the work of the department’s national laboratories. We must also allow and build energy infrastructure and remove barriers to progress, including federal policies that make the stop Projects become too easy and difficult to complete.” (Related: One of the most expensive green idiots in the United States may be offline after sucking subsidies and incineration of birds)
