President Donald Trump signed an executive order to end the Biden Administration push for paper straw use and directed the federal government to return to use plastic straws. [emphasis, links added]
In the video Posted Written by Margo Martin on X, Special Assistant and Communications Advisor to the President Trump explained that biodegradable paper straws “do not work”, adding that they tend to break and don’t last long.

“We’re going back to plastic straws.” Trump said. “These things don't work. I've had a lot of times – sometimes they break and explode. If there are any hot spots, they won't last long – for example a few minutes of problems, sometimes a few seconds. This is a ridiculous situation, so we're going to go back to plastic straws. ”
The Biden administration sets a goal to eventually phase out the use of “disposable plastics” after the executive order returns the United States to the use of plastic straws. according to HILL:
Plastics are produced using oil and gas, and promoting the use of materials may be Trump's victory in the energy and plastics industries.
Before signing the executive order, Trump revealed in a post about the Truth Society that he would be “End the ridiculous Biden pushes paper straws.”
“I will sign an executive order next week to end the ridiculous Biden push to paper straw, which won't work,” Trump wrote. “Back to plastic!”
