The City of Baltimore Public Schools have consumed three days established in the school calendar for this school year, extending its school year to Monday after the last day of the program.
Maryland regulations require at least 180 school days a year. Downtown used snow days on Wednesday and January 6 and 7.
January storms deposited 6.6 inches of snow at BWI Marshall Airport, despite accumulations above 10 inches in some parts of the state. Tuesday night's storm was just a small part of it – the airport 3.8 inches.
The new last day is Monday, June 16, school district spokeswoman Sherry Christian said. She said the previously planned date was Friday, June 13.
If any other bad weather occurs, the school district will turn to virtual learning. Christian said the school year will not be extended by June 16 due to virtual learning.
School districts across the state are dealing with these issues. Carroll County Public Schools are out of the snowy distribution and are now uncertain about the last day of school. Harford County Public Schools also reached their limits, although the school system reserved six days of bad weather.
