As the school district exhausted three days of snowfall in the school year, the fun of snow-loving students in Baltimore County ended, using its virtual learning program to start on Wednesday for bad weather.
The school district used the last bad weather day on February 6. Inclement weather in the future will lead to virtual learning days. The virtual study days at Baltimore County Public Schools experienced a two-hour delay.
Maryland requires schools to teach at least 180 days a year. With that in mind, the district can build a few days in the calendar to make up for potentially bad weather.
This year, a January storm flooded the state at the snow at BWI Marshall Airport, but large accumulations were reported in other regions. The weather wasn't high on Tuesday night, with only 3.8 inches of snow falling on the BWI.
Several school districts are closed, while others are moving to virtual learning based on forecasts. Baltimore City Public Schools and schools in Carroll and Harford County are also closed.
