The German blackout news reports here a latest example of what happens when green energy fantasy clashes with reality, in which case training is powered by hydrogen.

(RMV) The hydrogen train on Taunusbahn has been temporarily discontinued and diesel locomotives have been used again. The hydrogen locomotive is made by Alstom and is reportedly “prone to failure” and is currently improving.
“The project was launched in December 2022 with high expectations. The plan is to deploy the world's largest fleet of hydrogen trains on Taunusbahn. But the problem arose very early,” the blackout news report. “Even at the beginning, Alstom was unable to deliver the promised number of vehicles. In the coming months, technical flaws became more frequent.”
As a result, RMV was forced to re-open diesel locomotives, but called the measure a “temporary solution until the end of 2025”. Hydrogen operation remains the overall goal. Alstom is currently overhauling the hydrogen train to prepare it for long-term, reliable operations.
By returning to the diesel train, RMV is focused on reliability while hopeful that hydrogen can improve enough capacity to be re-entered by the end of the year. “This measure shows that sustainable technology continues to pose a challenge,” Blackout News concluded.
While green energy can be used in many applications, they have proven to be a major technical challenge in the transportation sector.
