It must be said that the endless fanaticism of climate shock is very boring. The latest Salvo comes from the Associated Press, title Climate change has reduced glaciers faster than ever, losing 7 trillion tons since 2000. ”
Now, this sounds like a serious loss. I mean, that's trillions of tons lost over a quarter of a century.
As a suspicious guy, I went to the basics of Nature magazine Community estimates of global glacier quality changes from 2000 to 2023.
In this study, I found the following:
Glaciers separate from the continental ice sheets of Greenland and Antarctica, covering approximately 706,000 kilometers of global areas2 Around 2000, the estimated total was 158,170±41,030 kilometers3.
…
Here, we show in a comparative exercise that from 2000 to 2023, global glaciers enjoy 273±16 Gigatonnes worldwide each year.
So the first thing we have to do is convert the number into cubic kilometers (km)3) to metric system. One cubic meter of glacier ice weighs 0.92 tons. One cubic kilometer of ice is 920 million tons. Therefore, their total glacier ice volume is
158,170±41,030 km3
Convert
146±38 trillion tons
This means uncertainty in the glacier ice estimation, not the volume itself, but rather uncertain Five times the volume is five times the change calculated in the past 23 years.
It does not fully inspire confidence.
It also means that by 2050, if (this is a big one) glacier ice loss continues at the current rate, glaciers will lose 3.5% to 6.7% of their number…it’s called me crazy, but I didn’t see By how to do so, the estimated glacier volume may drop by about 5%.
By the end, this is your glacier story of the day.
In 1678, in the depths of the Little Ice Age, the Good Swiss Burghers in the villages of Fiesch and Fieschtal asked the Pope innocent XI to stop the progress of the Alets glacier, fearing flooding. and destruction. Glaciers threaten to kill the outflow of the lake, which will cause its village to be permanently submerged as the ice dams raise the lake levels.

So the Pope prays that the glaciers stop moving forward…and Miracolo di Miracoli, as the world emerges from the Little Ice Age, the Aletsch Glacier does stop moving forward! Go to the numbers.
Fast forward to 2009, when glacial retreats caused by warming from the smaller ice ages of the Ice Age were threatening the income of villagers for 400,000 visitors a year, which is the Arec Glacier. Glaciers retreat up to 10 meters each year. Yes! Therefore, they sought the Vatican approval to reverse the prayer and asked Pope Benedict XVI to help stop the melting.
In 2010, the Pope approved their petition.
So far, the effect of the revised prayer is unclear… The Aletz Glacier is still retreating. But, with that being said, the Alets Glacier is 23,000 meters long. So if it continues to lose 10 meters per year, by 2050, it will lose 1% of its length. Again, I didn't see the huge drawbacks here…
Now, this story has a strange hidden morality. This has nothing to do with human fickleness or warming since the Ice Age or faithful prayer.
Note that the progress of glaciers in 1678 will mean the total destruction of towns.
On the other hand, the retreat of glaciers in the 21st century will only cost them some tourist bucks.
Here is the moral I drew from the story:
At any time in the history of the earth's geological history, glaciers either a) advance or b) retreat.
Given the known dangers and benefits of promoting and retreating glaciers, I would choose b), thank you, and in the long run, the Swiss villages and the villages of Fischertal will also…
I'm the best for everyone, hug your kids, call your people, family is everything, Vita Brevis,
