BP announced plans to remove the “green” hydrogen plant, which was described as “disappointing.”
Cross-border has been sought before Planned License To build a power plant in Redcar, the plant will produce hydrogen by decomposing water with electricity.
But as part of the transition Strategies to stay away from renewable energythe company has now cancelled the plan.
Alec Brown, leader of the Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council, said that despite the “hit”, BP is still committed to “innovative projects” in the region.
BP has Said before Hygreen construction will create up to 500 jobs, while people living in Middlesbrough and Stockton areas will gain the possibility of a “majority”.
The electricity used by the plant will mainly come from low-carbon sources, and the hydrogen will be used by the industry.
The company said it will now focus on other projects in the region net Zero Teesside and Blue hydrogen plant.
“It's disappointing news – but we're still optimistic about the future,” Brown said.

BP clearly believes that there is no future investment in projects that rely entirely on government subsidies.
