Zeldin specifically targeted the Green Energy and Environmental Justice Program, which the inaugural government has rushed to implement in its last weeks and months.
“Working hands with Doge to control wasteful federal spending, the EPA has saved more than $2 billion in taxpayer funds,” Selding said in a statement Monday. “Our commitment to the EPA is a special manager of tax revenue.”
Grants to Young, Gifted & Green and grants to Democratic Green are all part of the $2 billion climate justice community change program, established by Democtrates Difuckation Savinal Act in 2022 and advocated by former President Joe Biden and former EPA Chief Executive Michael Regan.
The groups are one of the 105 entities selected to receive funding under the program. The EPA received 2,801 applications asking for hundreds of millions of dollars in funding for the program.
Zeldin’s action to cut spending in the Biden-era era has affected grants and grants from several other climate justice community change programs under eight other programs, according to familiar sources.
These programs include EPA’s small environmental justice grant program and collaborative problem-solving cooperation agreement program.
Additionally, Zeldin's team awarded $20 billion to eight nonprofits by Biden administration Under the Greenhouse Reduction Fund Program under the Inflation Reduction Act, it is parked at external financial institutions.
