EPA administrator Lee Zeldin said his agency will reconsider various environmental regulations, including certain regulations regarding power plants, oil and gas facilities and coal power plants, in an attempt to “free up American energy.”
EPA touts this move as the “biggest relaxation action” in U.S. history, vowed Reduce the cost of living for Americans and “return the power to the state to make their own decisions.”
“Today is the greatest day our country has seen,” Selding wrote in a press release.
“We put the dagger directly into the heart of climate change religion to reduce the cost of living for American families, free up American energy, bring auto jobs back to the United States, and more.”
The EPA also announced that it would terminate any weapons from Biden-era institutions related to environmental justice or diversity, the press release said.
Additionally, the EPA is reconsidering its Risk Management Plan (RMP) rules and claims in a press release Rule makes American oil and gas refineries and chemical facilities “not very safe”.
The RMP rule was strengthened under Biden-Harris Administration, which requires facilities for developing risk management plans using extremely dangerous substances. Some Republicans have criticized the rule, claiming it puts too much burden and expense on facilities.
Zeldin's agents also plan Redirecting law enforcement resources to its “core mission of easing unnecessary bureaucratic burdens on the economy, thereby increasing costs for American consumers” According to the press release.
“Together with President Trump, we fulfill our commitment to unlocking American energy, reducing costs for Americans, revitalizing the U.S. automotive industry, and working hand in hand with our state partners to promote our shared mission,” Celding said in a press release.
EPA also marks a possible Wednesday Reduce the definition of “American water” (Wotus). Under the Clean Water Act, signed into law in 1972, certain navigable U.S. waterways were contaminated by federal protections.
The Biden-Harris administration has expanded the scope of the law, leading to a massive overturn by many Republicans who claim that the law imposes an improper regulatory burden on U.S. landowners.
It is worth noting that former President Joe Biden has imposed various environmental and energy regulations during his sole term as part of his broader climate agenda.
