The town of Natkit, Massachusetts, looks to use one of a legal tactics from the Green Left to deal with large-scale offshore wind farms supported by liberal environmentalists.
Environmental groups have adopted a “prosecution and resolution” strategy – the plaintiff sued a unified government to kill an unfavorable project that effectively targeted the project through settlement – for decades that have hindered infrastructure projects they opposed. Now, Nantucket sued the Trump administration and claimed that critical procedural laws were not followed in the Biden-era approval of the massive Southcoast wind farm on the island’s shores, which has weakened potential “prosecution and resolution” situations that could undermine major projects that could undermine the green left-handed support.
Nantucket's lawsuit was filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, naming Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, the Department of the Interior (DOI) and the Bureau of Ocean Energy Administration (BOEM) as defendants, even if the Trump administration was not in power when the administration approved South Coast Wind's paper work. If completed, the Southcoast project will accommodate up to 147 large wind turbine generators in the 199 square mile rental area, about 20 miles south of Nantucket. The Island Community believes that the Biden administration has violated the National Environmental Policy Act and the National Historic Protection Act to promote development. Contrary to the Biden administration, the Trump administration is not a friend of the offshore wind industry: President Donald Trump, who has opposed offshore wind during his campaign, has some of his first actions when he took office in January include a temporary withdrawal of offshore wind rental areas and a launch of federal scrutiny for allowing offshore wind.
“In a perfect world, of course there will be no 'Su and settled in.' But we do not live in a perfect world. “Unfortunately, the left puts us in this kind of war-like situation that requires the use of extreme, constitutional means. What is good for geese is good for Gande. I think this is great. ”
Craig Rucker, chairman of the constructive Tomorrow Commission, told DCNF that lawsuits like nantucket will provide the Trump administration with an easy opportunity to implement its anti-shore wind agenda. CFACT also filed its own similar lawsuit against the government in an attempt to prevent large-scale dominant energy development on the Virginia coast.
“Obviously, the Trump administration exploits citizens' anger at the offshore winds is a real opportunity. From our perspective, it will be welcomed if the Trump administration ends these people with the court and ends the project,” Rucker told DCNF. “From our perspective, the Trump administration settles in Massachusetts with these people, which is a good precedent, and we want to see the same thing happen in Virginia.”
Nantucket’s lawsuit specifically claims that Biden Boem “bypassed or shortened numerous necessary steps, overturned responsibility to the public and allowed the company’s energy developers to decide on the terms of the license.” It is worth noting that Amanda Lefton (from February 2021 to February 2023) ran for the Biden administration – after leaving the federal government a few months after leaving the federal government.
In a turbine created by another project in the area, where vineyard winds are constantly shattering debris into surrounding waters, Nantucket becomes a hotbed of anti-shore wind activities. Later, some of the pollution was washed off on the beaches of Nantekit, forcing the closure and angering many locals.
Despite alleged environmental damage caused by green technology, many environmental groups subsequently defended the industry. More generally, many green groups support offshore winds as a means of resisting climate change, although many critics fear that offshore wind energy development in recent years may lead to a surge in whale deaths observed on the East Coast in recent years.
