As a member of the non-profit in the climate, Max Joshua helps host events where LGBTQ+ people working in climate and sustainability can build communities and connect with each other.
Joshua: “It’s great to create space where people can be themselves.”
Joshua said she has been surrounded by many supportive colleagues throughout her career in climate technology, but sometimes transgender people in the workplace can be difficult.
Joshua: “It can be challenging. Sometimes there is some uncomfortable interaction with people in some companies. … And you may not see anyone like you in your field of expertise. … So I really want to be part of a community who are actively trying to make people feel welcome in a climate space, we will feel welcome in a climate space, where we try, try and support and support each other.”
So, she hopes that the exit from climate activities can help other queer people see their value for the climate profession.
Joshua: “Becoming a queer person and growing into your full and true self is a radical imagination and creativity, facing a lot of social opposition, I think this radical imagination, creativity and reshaping and reshaping are what we really need in the climate… People we need need a world that needs more before they can create a world that is realized and create a reality in reality and change in reality and can make yourself change, which is a reality, it can make yourself change, it is a change of scope.
