The Department of Energy canceled a $4.5 million contract, and the Biden administration awarded the development of a new institutional website and logo, symbolizing the transition to green energy, i.e. Washington Free Beacon Learned. [emphasis, links added]
Former President Joe Biden’s Department of Energy awarded the contract to the Native American company Cherokee Nation Strategic Progranation in March 2023, which was classified as a minority-owned small business in March 2023 for the purpose of “rebranding” the agency. Free beacon.
However, the project lags far behind plans; by the second half of 2024, the company only provided the logo and failed to make progress on website redesign.
The Biden administration eventually paid about $2.3 million or half of the contract to the Cherokee National Strategic Plan and transferred the rest of the contract to a separate IT services company. Free beacon.
Ministry of Energy officials discovered a contract coordinated with Elon Musk's government efficiency ministry and canceled it in March.
As for the million dollar logo, it has the word “U.S. Department of Energy” in a larger font. According to the internal documentation, most letters are dark blue to indicate current.
However, the second “E” in “Energy” consists of three colors: light blue, which indicates wind and hydropower generated by water and sky, yellow for solar, and green for geothermal energy, biofuels, nuclear power, nuclear power and “traditional” energy.
While the contract represents only a small portion of the Department of Energy’s approximately $50 billion budget, it encapsulates the Biden administration’s priorities.
Led by then-energy secretary Jennifer Granholm, the Biden Department of Energy proposed a positive climate agenda and prioritized green energy over traditional forms of energy such as oil, gas and coal.
Granholm describes himself as “obsessed with addressing climate change and creating good clean energy efforts.”

“The new DOE logo includes multiple unique design elements, each representing a critical aspect of how we achieve our mission,” notes the Biden-biden-ersa era agency brand guide.
“As a unit, the logo emphasizes 'energy' to the greatest extent, just as agencies focus on the many ways in which energy can protect and protect the American public and the world for the American public and the world.”
