If you've been following our books this year, you know it's a horrible time for weather, climate and science in the U.S. budget, and at NOAA, FEMA staff cut more threats and potentially cut our ability to prepare and respond to weather disasters.
Amid all this, hurricane season is coming, and we also face budget constraints for Yale climate links as the philanthropy world tries to understand the new government.
Season after season, readers like you show us that you value our coverage of hurricanes and other extreme weather. You have used it to stay informed and keep your loved ones safe. Now we need your help.
Our goal is to raise $10,000 to support our focus on storm hurricane coverage this summer and fall. Your donations will be handed over directly to payment journalists like Bob Henson and put these reports in front of people in the storm. Will you sign up to be the donor you maintain today?
We know this is a time of uncertainty, so anything you can appreciate, but if you can be a monthly donor for $15 a month or give $50 a one-time donation, that will have a huge impact on our hurricane coverage.
We know our reports are important. One reader told us: “I often share your articles with friends and family in extreme weather, such as hurricanes, floods and wildfires. A few years later, your articles have played a role in helping older friends prepare to evacuate before a hurricane.”
If you become a monthly donor between now and May 31, you will be invited to an exclusive conversation with Bob Henson and Me later this summer. Make sure you have selected the “Sustain Gift” option on the donation form. Please note that if you set up a donation to be anonymous, we will not have your information to invite you to the conversation.
If you would rather donate through a check, put it on “Yale University” and write “Climate Connection for Yale University” on the check. Mail it to: Yale Yale Yale, Yale, ATTN: Office of Development, 205 Foreground Street, New Haven, CT 06511
Yale is nonprofit 501(c)3. Its federal tax number is 06-0646973.
Thank you for your support in preparing for the storm ahead.
