Crockett's comments were held at a Kids Subcommittee hearing that examined how nonprofits abuse government funds in pursuit of left-wing programs.

They came after several Republicans and hearing witnesses criticized the EPA climate grant, which was first made Washington free beacon, Awarded to the Group Power Forward Community in 2024 with Abrams.

Crockett said the criticism was related to race and a potential third Abrams Governor’s campaign in 2026.

“Hearding comments about Stacey Abrams did let me go,” Crockett said at a hearing Wednesday. “A lot of the time, when we get into this hearing room, it's all about politics. It makes me think Stacey is most likely to have problems because there are actually people who are asking the fact that Stacey has run several times for governor, and the governor race is in Georgia and no one knows if Stacey will run.”

“So, if we hope to bring a strong black woman down, why not mud?” she added. “But, I'll digress again.”

These comments represent the latest efforts of Democrats to defend the Biden administration’s plan to spend heavily on climate.

Republicans targeted the big power community and others in a bid to curb spending and improve the efficiency of the federal government, but received a push from Democrats who believed the grants were justified.

Biden EPA announced in April 2024 that it will award Power Forward Community a $2 billion grant to help provide electric zero-emission equipment to poor communities.

The group was formed in October 2023 as a coalition of various groups led by America Rewiring America, a left-wing environmental group, where Abrams served as a senior consultant and senior consultant between early 2023 and late last year.

But at the time of the EPA's announcement, the large forward community made just $100 and applied for its grants around an Abrams-led project in Desoto, Georgia, where she shipped the appliances to dozens of families who had previously relied on gas-powered appliances.

Biden EPA officials touted the project when they announced that they would grant the group a $2 billion grant.
