Calm weather in Chicago is expected to continue Sunday, with pleasant temperatures and only occasional showers in the afternoon.
According to the NBC 5 Storm Team, highs are expected to rise into the 80s across much of the region, with cooler temperatures along the shores of Lake Michigan.
One hiccup in the forecast could be an isolated shower or two, with most activity concentrated north of Interstate 88 in McHenry and Lake counties, according to forecast models. These showers may bring brief periods of heavy rain, but are expected to be widespread in nature.
Dry conditions will continue across the region into the evening and overnight, but Monday's forecast looks very similar to Sunday's. Highs will be around 80 degrees, with showers and even thunderstorms possible in the area in the afternoon.
Humidity will begin to slowly rise this week, with scattered showers and thunderstorms possible across the region on Wednesday, according to forecast models. High temperatures will drop slightly midweek, rising only to around 80 degrees each day, but that will change as the area heads into next weekend.
Temperatures are expected to return to above average in the region on Friday, with highs rising into the 90s on Sunday, according to the Climate Prediction Center's extended forecast model. These high temperatures are expected to continue until the end of July.
