Happy Sunday!
Scattered storms are developing across Alabama this afternoon, and it's not over yet. Temperatures will be in the high 80s today and will drop into the 70s tonight. This pattern will continue for one week. Storms are expected to disperse into the evening and late night.
On Monday, temperatures were near 90 degrees. More scattered storms are expected in the afternoon. Rainfall on Monday and the rest of the week won't be in the form of rain throughout the day, but rather scattered storms. Some days these storms will continue into the afternoon/evening, but other days the rain may be scattered throughout the day. It doesn't rain everywhere. Some areas may not rain at all this week, while others may see rain every day. These summer rainstorms are difficult to predict due to the ever-changing atmosphere.
Temperatures will remain in the upper 80s until around Thursday. Thursday will be slightly cooler, only reaching the upper 80s. It's still humid these days, making the temperature feel even hotter. Due to higher humidity, the “feeling temperature” may be 5 to 10 degrees higher than the actual temperature. Although the temperatures are starting to look like fall temperatures, summer is still here. Now, temperatures appear to be returning to more of a summer feel later this week and into the weekend.
This week looks set to break the record. Every day looks very similar and nothing seems to have changed this week. This is a good week to make sure you have an umbrella on hand in case there's a storm in your area, but don't worry, the sun is shining this week.
