An 11-year-old boy died after a noose was tied around his neck while he was filming a prank video for social media in Madhya Pradesh's Morena district, police said on Sunday.
Divisional police officer Ravi Bhadoria said a video purporting to be of the incident that took place in Amba town on Saturday night has surfaced on social media.
Karan Parmar, a seventh-grader, said he was playing with other children in a vacant lot near his home.
In the purported video taken by a boy at the scene, Karan has a noose from a tree tied around his neck and acts as if he is in pain while others around him continue to play.
The other children thought the boy was acting, but he soon lost consciousness, according to police.
