The following is the Sunday evening weather forecast for July 21, 2024 from the Minnesota Weather Service and Meteorologist Matt Serwe.
Parts of Minneapolis and St. Paul received 1 to 3 inches of rain Sunday morning, with a few localized downpours and storms expected tonight. If you see some dark clouds at sunset on Sunday, keep an eye on the radar on the KSTP mobile app. There may be more fog tonight, some of which may be locally dense. Monday will start with some sunshine, enough to lift temperatures into the mid-80s. Another round of storms developed in central Minnesota Monday afternoon and moved into the Twin Cities in the evening. The chance of severe weather is low, but gusty winds and heavy rain are possible. Like today, most places with rain will see an additional 0.25 to 0.50 inches of rain, but locally stronger storms could drop an additional inch or two.
In the latest forecast, this wave is progressing faster. This should mean the rain has stopped by Tuesday morning. However, humidity will continue into Tuesday afternoon. Northeasterly winds will keep Wednesday cool and comfortable. Soak it up, as more heat and humidity will arrive over the weekend. Southerly winds will push highs to around 90° on Saturday and Sunday.
