Severe storms brought high winds to the valley on Sunday and even brought some dust storms. On Lake Pleasant, they caused some big waves and chaos for boaters.
MARICopa COUNTY, Ariz. — A powerful monsoon storm hit the Northwest Valley Sunday afternoon, bringing high winds, rain and even dust storms.
In Lake Pleasant, the storm caused chaos for boaters, with the wind whipping up some large waves that poured water into boats, causing them to toss around and make the lake look more like the ocean.
12News viewer Greg Ervin sent in a video of the scene where the boats were seen colliding and being dragged underwater. You can watch the video at the top of this story.
All told, the storm sank or ran aground about a dozen boats, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.
MCSO said they had to rescue about 30 people, but luckily no one was injured.
More monsoon storms are expected this week. You can find the latest weather forecast at 12News.com/Weather.
