The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert on Tuesday, July 23, predicting heavy rainfall in the states of Gujarat, Maharashtra and Goa. Meanwhile, orange alert has been issued in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Odisha.
IMD forecast for western, central, eastern and southern peninsular India
The meteorological department predicts “extremely heavy rain” in Gujarat, Goa and Maharashtra until July 24. Teraband and Gujarat are likely to witness similar weather conditions on July 25-26.

IMD forecast for northwest India
The meteorological agency has hinted at the possibility of “heavy rainfall” in Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana on July 23 and in Rajasthan on July 23-24.
Additionally, heavy rainfall is likely to occur in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan till July 26.
Rains continue in Punjab and Haryana till July 24.
IMD forecast for Northeast India
“Considerable widespread light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning is likely to occur over northeastern India over the next five days,” an IMD press release on July 22 said.

The meteorological department has predicted “heavy rainfall” in Assam and Meghalaya till July 27. Wet weather occurs until July 24th.

Hot and humid weather is likely to prevail in northwest Rajasthan till tomorrow. Apart from this, Punjab, Haryana and Delhi “are likely to experience above normal temperatures and high humidity conditions” till July 24.
