CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Queen City News) – More than 8,000 people were without power around Charlotte Tuesday afternoon.
According to Duke Energy officials, the outage occurred between 2:40 and 3:30 p.m.
The outage came after severe thunderstorms hit the area.
Southwest Charlotte
2,100 customers were without power along South Tryon Street south of Woodlawn Road. Estimated recovery time is 8:45 p.m.
south charlotte
1,100 customers were without power along Pineville-Matthews Road between Carmel Road and Rea Road. Estimated recovery time is 9:45 p.m.
Noda
1,600 customers were without power in northern NoDa extending beyond Sugar Creek Road. Power is expected to be restored at 9 p.m.
east charlotte
More than 500 customers are without power around the intersection of Albemarle Road and East WT Harris Blvd. Duke Energy said fallen trees or branches damaged equipment in the area. Estimated to resume at 9:15 p.m.
