A tragic incident took place at a PG accommodation in Bengaluru's Koramangala area late on Tuesday night when a 24-year-old woman from Bihar, Kriti Kumari, was brutally murdered. Kriti Kumari was working in a private company in the city and recently moved to VR Layout PG in Koramangala.
According to reports, the attackers entered the PG premises around 11:10 to 11:30 pm and went to Kriti Kumari's room on the third floor. The attacker allegedly strangled her to death with a knife. The incident came to light when other residents heard a commotion coming from her room and alerted authorities.
Koramangala police reached the spot and launched a thorough investigation. Additional police chief Raman Gupta confirmed that a case had been registered and said the victim knew the perpetrators. Efforts are on to arrest the suspects, who are currently on the run, he added.
Police sources revealed that three special teams have been formed to hunt down the accused. They are scrutinizing Kriti Kumari's mobile phone records, including call details, and scrutinizing the CCTV footage of the PG premises. Investigators are also gathering information about the victim's recent activities and interactions.
Preliminary investigations suggest the crime may have had romantic overtones. There are suspicions that Kriti Kumari was killed by a young man with whom she had been in a relationship. According to reports, Kriti Kumari escorted the youngster into the PG around 11:30 pm on Tuesday. It appears that after returning from dinner, Kriti Kumari entered a room with the young man. Subsequently, the two had a conflict in the room and were suspected of murder.
Reports said the young woman had recently joined the police force and the accused had assisted her with her luggage when she arrived two days earlier. He allegedly claimed he was her brother when questioned by security and was allowed entry on the pretext of arranging a quick exit.
