July 4th is a federal holiday, regardless of what day of the week July 4th falls.
In 2024, July 4th will be celebrated on Thursday.
Florida employees will enjoy four-day Independence Day weekend
On Monday, June 24, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis established this year's four-day Fourth of July weekend for state employees.
DeSantis announced that state offices will also close on Friday, July 5, in addition to their scheduled closures on Independence Day, July 4.
Will a tropical storm or hurricane affect your 4th of July plans?
While a tropical depression or tropical storm is expected to form in the Atlantic at any time, it is expected to approach the Lesser Antilles by the end of the weekend. Storms are possible there starting Sunday afternoon.
According to AccuWeather, what could become Tropical Storm Beryl later today or Saturday could intensify into a hurricane as it reaches the Windward Islands.
Most models currently show the system moving into the Caribbean south of Cuba.
