Police said they received a complaint on social media platform
Delhi Police took action against a 20-year-old man who was found sitting on the bonnet of a car in Delhi's Dwarka area dressed as Spider-Man.
The man was accompanied by 19-year-old Gaurav Singh, who was allegedly the driver of the car. The police imposed a fine of Rs 26,000 for dangerous driving and other offenses in the case.
Police said they received a complaint on social media platform X that a Scorpio car was spotted on Dwarka roads with a person dressed as Spider-Man on the hood. After receiving the complaint, officials took necessary action.
The car and its occupants were found near Ranfar Chowk in Dwarka. The person wearing the Spider-Man costume was identified as Aditya (20), a resident of Najafgarh, and the driver of the vehicle was identified as Gaurav Singh (19), a resident of Mahavir Enclave, a senior police officer said ).
The official added that the owner and driver of the vehicle have been prosecuted for dangerous driving, clean driving and failure to wear seat belts and may be fined up to Rs 26,000 and/or jailed, or both.
The Delhi Traffic Police reiterated its commitment to ensuring road safety for all citizens. They said such reckless behavior on the roads will not be tolerated and strict action will be taken against offenders to uphold the law and protect the lives of road users.
He further said: “We urge citizens to promptly report any dangerous driving or traffic violations. Public cooperation is crucial to maintaining road safety and ensuring smooth traffic in the city.
