Missoula Storm Aftermath – July 25 AM Update
The following is information provided by Missoula County:
- Since many people are without power and power lines are still down, check on your neighbors to make sure they are okay, especially if they are elderly. 9-1-1 is busy fielding many calls, and if you are able to help a neighbor, it can take the pressure off our emergency communications and dispatchers.
- The Red Cross is staffing the Election Center at 140 North Russell Street for residents who need to charge essential personal devices. The center will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and will provide electricity, air conditioning, showers (with towels) for people without these services. No medical services will be provided.
- Please save water. The city and county are still using backup generators to deliver water as many areas remain without power.
- Many traffic signals in the Missoula area remain inoperable. Remember: treat these intersections as four-way stops, slow down, be patient and watch for emergency traffic. If you don't need to drive today, don't drive!
- Power remains out in much of the area; utility companies serving the area are working to restore it. Do not touch a dropped power cord.
-
County and city public works departments are working to remove debris from public streets/roads and other public rights-of-way. Please do not call 9-1-1 to report trees blocking the right of way.
- County and city staff are working to set up trash collection locations for residents. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
-
Some city and county offices are closed or providing services remotely. Persons needing services should call the specific department before entering.
