The victim, Kriti Kumari, was brutally murdered on Tuesday night.
The man accused of killing a 24-year-old Bihar woman at her PG residence in Bengaluru's Koramangala area was arrested in Madhya Pradesh on Saturday.
The accused has been brought to the city for further investigation.
The victim, Kriti Kumari, was brutally murdered on Tuesday night. Kumari was working in a private company in the city and recently moved to VR Layout PG in Koramangala.
Police also obtained CCTV footage of the heinous crime earlier on Friday. According to CCTV footage, the accused can be seen entering the PG before he knocked on the door and slit her throat even as the victim screamed for help. The video also shows the defendant fleeing the crime scene.
Police sources revealed that three special teams have been formed to hunt the accused. They scrutinized Kumari's mobile phone records, including call details, and scrutinized CCTV footage from the PG premises.
Preliminary investigations suggest there may be a romantic angle to the crime. Some suspect Kumari was killed by a young man with whom she was romantically involved. According to reports, Kumari escorted the young man into the vigilance center around 11:30 pm on Tuesday. It seems that after returning from dinner, Kumari entered a room with the young man. Subsequently, the two had a conflict in the room and were suspected of murder.
The report said the young woman had only recently joined the force and the defendant had assisted her with her luggage when she arrived two days earlier. He allegedly claimed he was her brother when questioned by security and was allowed entry on the pretext of arranging a quick exit.
