A severe thunderstorm triggered weather watches and warnings across southern Quebec on Wednesday, even a tornado warning was later lifted in the Lachout region, and left thousands without power in the province.
An alert for southern Quebec was issued around 9 a.m. and lasted until the evening.

As of 4 p.m., nearly 40,000 Hydro-Québec customers were without power. Most of them are located in Lanaudière (25,775) and the Laurentians (12,927). According to Hydro-Québec's outage map, the total number of customers without power had dropped to about 20,000 as of 8 p.m., with about half of them in these two regions.
Environment Canada says thunderstorms may be accompanied by strong winds, large hail and heavy rain.
A tornado was confirmed on radar Wednesday night near Smiths Falls in eastern Ontario.
The maximum daytime temperature in Montreal is 27 degrees Celsius, the humidity is 35, and the UV index is 7, which is high. The minimum temperature is expected to be 19 degrees Celsius tonight.
Meanwhile, in Chicago
An Oscar Mayer Wiener car got stuck on a Chicago highway.
The hot dog-shaped Wiener crashed into a car on Interstate 294 on Monday morning, causing the driver to lose control and overcorrect, causing the car to roll over near the Chicago suburb of Oak Brook, Illinois.
A spokesman for the Oscar Mayer brand, which owns several Weiner vehicles, told the Chicago Sun-Times, “Thankfully, everyone involved was safe and no one was injured.”
Video from the accident scene shows the yellow and orange Wiener being towed away by a flatbed truck with visible damage to parts of the vehicle.
