Police revealed that the student's father advised the student to stay in school and continue taking art courses
A 16-year-old Class 11 student was found dead in the hostel of a private school in Delhi. The boy allegedly committed suicide due to some research-related issues, police said.
Police discovered the boy's body early Friday. Preliminary investigation revealed that the student, Kunal Rai, a resident of Delhi's Nagloi area, was reportedly distressed over his friend's transfer to another school.
Rai wanted to pursue science as his stream was disrupted as his friends shifted to another school and started studying science while his school did not offer science stream to students.
Police revealed that the student's father advised the student to stay in school and continue his studies in the arts, but the boy felt isolated and depressed, allegedly due to feelings of loneliness and depression.
“His father advised him to continue studying art in school. The boy felt lonely and distraught. At around 6 a.m. on July 25, he hanged himself on the ceiling iron bars with a piece of cloth torn from the bed sheet,” the police officer said explain.
Kunal was distressed by this and ended his life by hanging a piece of cloth from his bed sheet on an iron rod on the ceiling. Obvious ligature marks were found on his neck, indicating the cause of death.
After an autopsy, the body was returned to the family. No evidence of foul play has been found.
Authorities have launched an investigation under Section 194 of the BNSS to further investigate the circumstances of the incident.
