According to hospital authorities, Kumaraswamy is currently undergoing tests. “A clearer picture will emerge once the test reports come out,” an official said.
Union Home Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel HD Kumaraswamy started suffering from nosebleeds while addressing the media after a coordination committee meeting between the BJP and JD-S leaders on Sunday.
The Union Minister was admitted to Apollo Hospital in Jayanagar district. His son, actor-turned-politician Nikhil Kumaraswamy, and other senior leaders of the Janata Dal-S (JD-S) took him to the hospital.
HD Kumaraswamy has been participating in a series of programs since morning.
He visited a temple in Nanjagud town before arriving in Mysore to hold a meeting and address the media.
Arrive in Bangalore in the afternoon to attend a meeting of leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party and the DMK.
HD Kumaraswamy suddenly suffered a nosebleed when he was addressing the media along with former Kamathaka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, Karnataka BJP chief BY Vijayendra and Leader of Opposition R. Ashoka.
Blood splattered all over his white shirt.
Despite this, HD Kumaraswamy did not panic and asked Yediyurappa to address the media before stepping aside and covering his nose with a handkerchief.
He was subsequently rushed to the hospital.
According to hospital authorities, the Union minister is currently undergoing examination. “Once the test reports come out, a clearer picture will emerge,” a hospital official said.
Blood thinners or medications are suspected of causing the bleeding. However, an official statement has not yet been released.
HD Kumaraswamy had earlier undergone a heart surgery.
