The shocking news that Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) authorities have discovered disturbing practices at a local flour mill has drawn attention across Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh. In a recent raid, officials found over 400 kilograms of stone powder, identified as alabaster, illegally mixed into packets of flour branded Panchvati Atta. FSDA Assistant Commissioner Ajay Jaiswal revealed that a raid was conducted at a flour mill in Aligarh Industrial Area based on information provided by senior district officials. He said our inspection found the presence of stone powder during the production process.
The raid was carried out on Thursday, July 25, and the factory workers were caught red-handed in the act of adulteration. These adulterated flours are packaged and sold under the brand name Panchvati Atta. Jaiswal confirmed that immediate steps are being taken to recall all affected stocks from the market. He said a campaign was underway to recall the entire stock of the flour brand from the market.
The FDA has launched an investigation to determine the extent of the adulteration and is preparing to take legal action against those responsible for endangering public health.
The incident raises serious concerns about food safety standards in the region and the integrity of products sold to consumers.
