Temperatures in France are set to reach their highest this year in the coming days. A new wave of storms is expected during the second half of this week.
Monday, July 29
Thirty-nine departments are facing a level three orange heatwave alert starting this week. Today will be the hottest day of the heatwave, with temperatures expected to reach 40 degrees Celsius in some areas.

Currently, 39 departments face a level three heatwave warning, which will last until Tuesday.

The storm could cover much of France, spread eastward to the German border and could extend southward to the Mediterranean coast overnight.
Temperatures are expected to drop by 5 to 8 degrees Celsius in most areas affected by the heatwave, but nighttime temperatures will feel tropical and humid due to stormy weather, and temperatures throughout the day will remain significantly above seasonal averages in some areas.

The storm will continue to gradually move across France, but the exact areas most affected are not yet known.
