Wayanad landslide live broadcast in Kerala: A massive landslide killed at least 19 people and may have trapped hundreds in a hilly area near Maipati in Kerala's Wayanad district early on Tuesday. The landslide occurred between 2 am and 4 am and mainly affected Mundakai and Chooralmala.
Rescue efforts in Mundakai have been hampered by blocked roads and unstable terrain. A total of 250 personnel from Fire Rescue, Civil Defence, NDRF and local teams are working in Chooralmala.
Prime Minister Modi expressed deep concern and assured that the central government would provide all necessary assistance to deal with the crisis.
Meanwhile, the Kerala health department has opened a control room and issued emergency contact numbers in the wake of landslides and other rain-related disasters.
