The CBI has so far arrested 40 accused in the case, including 15 by the Bihar police, and conducted searches at 58 locations
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday filed its first chargesheet under IPC sections 120-B, 201, 409, 380, 411, 420 and 109 alleging irregularities in the NEET-UG 2024 examination. The investigating agency has also framed substantive offenses against 13 accused, namely Nitish Kumar, Amit Anand, Sikander Yadvendu, Ashutosh Kumar-1, Roshan Kumar, Manish Prakash, Ashutosh Kumar-2, Akhilesh Kumar, Avdesh Kumar, Anurag Yadav, Abhishek Kumar, Furnandan Kumar and Ayush Raj.
The case was initially registered at the Shastri Nagar police station in Patna and was later handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on June 23. Fifteen people were arrested and 58 locations were searched.
Last week, the CBI said in an official statement that Pankaj Kumar alias Aditya alias Sahil passed away from Oasis School in Hazaribagh on the morning of May 5 The NEET-UG 2024 question paper was obtained illegally and he was one of the masterminds of the scheme. The question papers were stolen with the connivance of NTA City Coordinator and Principal of Oasis School, Hazaribagh and Center Director and Vice Principal of Oasis School.
Further investigation is ongoing into other accused/suspects and other aspects of the case. Several other accused have been detained by police/judicial authorities. A supplementary chargesheet will be filed when further investigation against these accused/suspects is completed, the investigating agency said in a statement.
