Focusing on smooth regulation of Hajj, Garg said security measures need to be stepped up ahead of Independence Day celebrations
The security situation at the famous Mata Vashno Devi shrine atop Trikuta hilltop in Jammu and Kashmir's Raisi district was reviewed on Tuesday with a focus on the upcoming Independence Day celebrations, officials said.
Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Anshul Garg took stock of the operational readiness for barrier-free pilgrimage in the shrine area during a meeting held with all stakeholders at Katra base camp, officials said.
Focusing on smooth regulation of the Yatra, Garg said security measures need to be stepped up ahead of the Independence Day celebrations.
He stressed the need for joint efforts among stakeholders to create a strong security framework that meets the requirements, officials said.
The CEO emphasized on various aspects of action to be taken in the coming days to achieve a hassle-free pilgrimage, including issuance and verification of RFID cards, effective crowd management, expansion of waiting areas at the track and Katla town, formulation of the plan to decongest the entire track. It is planned that the Bhawan area in particular will be monitored round the clock through a dedicated CCTV network consisting of more than 700 cameras.
He called on all stakeholders to be on high alert to prevent pilgrims from entering the pilgrimage track without being searched and without valid registration.
The Executive Director also reviewed various components of disaster management measures and directed stakeholders to issue regular announcements and implement joint patrols.
It was decided in the meeting that the main event of the Independence Day celebrations will be held at the Katra Sports Center of the Shrine Committee, where Garg will unfurl the tricolor and pay tribute to the procession, including the police, Central Reserve Police Force, shrine security, NCC and School children, In addition, colorful cultural programs will also be presented to school children, an official said.
Senior police officials and CRPF officials said at the meeting that foolproof security arrangements would be put in place to ensure a smooth and enthusiastic National Day celebrations and proposed that besides deploying quick response teams and a multi-layered security grid, a Detailed security mesh.
