The conflict between the Indian Police Service (IPS) and the Indian Revenue Service (IRS), popularly known as cadre clashes, will now also feature the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Senior government sources said that the CBI will first deduct five police officers from the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) cadre and deploy them at the level of Superintendent of Police (SP).
“The CBI usually recruits staff from the IPS or from the original cadre of the CBI at the level or level of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP),” sources said, adding, “This change is to enable the CBI to handle Economic crime cases.
These officers are IRS officers for the years 2014-2016.
However, the move has upset the IPS lobby. “For them, the release of the CBI is a good exposure opportunity in the initial stages. Appointments and representation in the IRS will reduce the number of vacancies.
At the same time, given the rise in economic crime, the government wants top institutions to have the best talent, regardless of service. “Inland Revenue Department officials deal with economic crimes in the best possible way and the Prime Agency can also adopt this approach. Furthermore, these experiences will also be helpful to the IRS officials after the mission is over.
The IPS lobby sees this as a major setback as they have almost no role in the Enforcement Directorate. They also wanted cadre officers at the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO), but they too were turned down.
