JK DGP RR Swain and Nirmal Singh slammed the veteran leader from the Valley, calling his remarks “regrettable” and “nonsense”.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Union Territory Director General of Police (DGP) after former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister and National Conference president Farooq Abdullah accused Indian security agencies of colluding with terrorists trying to infiltrate the region ) RR Swain came down heavily on the veteran leader from the Valley.
“Despite our massive troop deployment at the border, arguably the largest in the world, terrorists continue to infiltrate into Indian territory. Yeh sab mile hue hain hamari barbadi ke liye (They conspire to destroy us),” he explain.
Abdullah's response came a day after two Indian army personnel and a civilian were killed in a gunbattle between security forces and terrorists in Anantnag district.
Senior JK police officer RR Swain lashed out at the leader and said the statement was regrettable, while the BJP highlighted that Abdullah had made such controversial statements in the past.
“I don't know how to respond to this question. To be honest, security forces, paramilitary forces, army and police have lost as many as 7,000 lives and are continuing to lose (more),” JK DGP RR Swain told CNN-News18.
“The security forces are at the forefront and are among the finest patriots of the Indian nation, that's all I can say,” he further added.
“Farooq Abdullah often makes such statements. He is known for his nonsense,” said Nirmal Singh, a senior BJP leader and former deputy chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir. But no one took his remarks seriously. ” CNN-News18.
“His background needs to be understood. This is the Farooq Abdullah who was pictured with Maqbool Bhat,” he said.
