Preparations are underway at the Red Fort ahead of Independence Day on August 15.
According to the notice, several roads will be closed between 4 a.m. and 11 a.m. and only tagged vehicles will be allowed on the routes.
The Delhi Traffic Police issued the warning on Tuesday in view of the rehearsals ahead of the Independence Day celebrations on August 15. Only then will it pass.

“In view of Independence Day celebrations, we have made elaborate parking arrangements for invitees. Please follow the advice,” Delhi Traffic Police said in a statement.
Delhi Traffic Police said that to celebrate the Independence Day ceremony, for the convenience of invitees and for safety reasons, the following traffic restrictions will be implemented in and around the Red Fort on August 15.
Vehicles with parking space tags 1 & SS can take the following routes –
from south delhi
Rajghat Crossroad-> Shanti Van Crossroad-> Turn left> Nishad Raj Marg-> Turn right->> Moat Road-> Turn right-> Delhi Gate-> Hati Gate-> Respective parking lot
from north delhi
ISBT Kashmir Gate-> Hanuman Setu Outer Ring Road-> Geeta Colony Flyover-> Shanti van Crossing-> Turn left> Nishad Raj Marg-> Turn right- Moat Road-> Turn right->> Delhi Gate-> Harty Gate->Separate parking spaces
Vehicle 4 with a parking space tag can take the following route –
from south delhi
Rajghat Crossing – Shanti Van Crossing Turn left > Nishad Raj Marg -> Turn right ->> Get off Neta Ji Subash Marg -> Respective parking lot
from north delhi
ISBT Kashmir Gate-> Hanuman Setu-> Outer Ring Road-> Geeta Colony Flyover-> Shanti Van Crossing-> Turn left> Nishad Raj Marg-> Turn right-> Lower Neta Ji Subash Marg->> Respective parking lot
Vehicles with parking space tags 4A & 5 can take the following routes –
from south delhi
Turn right from Delhi Gate -> NS Marg -> Car Park No. 4A -> Wrong lane Lower Neta Ji SubhashMarg -> Toke Car Park No. 05 Upper Neta Ji Subhash Marg Respective car parks
from north delhi
15BT Kashmiri Gate Hanuman Setu -> Outer Ring Road Geeta Colony Flyover -> Shanti Van Crossing -> Turn to Loft Raj Ghat Crossing -> Turn right -> Delhi Gate -> Turn right -> NS Marg Parking No. 4A – Wrong lane to exit Neta Ji Subhash Marg -> Go to Car Park No. 05 – Walk onto Neta Ji Subhash Marg -> Respective Car Park
Note: Invitees with parking tags 1, SS, 4, 4A and 5 are not allowed to proceed from SPM Marg, Chhatta Rail to the designated parking lot.
Vehicles 2, 2A and 3 with parking space tags can take the following routes –
from south delhi
Raj Ghat Crossroad -> Shanti Van Vijay Ghat Saleem Garh Point Y and turn left -> Branch Road -> Turn left to SPM Marg -> Chhatta Rail Chowk Lower NS Marg -> Turn left> Angoori Bagh Cut -> Respective parking lot
from north delhi
158T Kashmir Gate -> Get off Hanuman Setu -> Turn right -> SPM Marg -> Chhatta Rail Chowk -> Lower NS Marg -> Turn left -> Angoori Bagh Cut -> Respective parking lot
Note: Invitees with parking tags 2, 2A and 3 are not allowed to proceed from Nishad Raj Marg, Subhash T Point and Upper Subhash Marg from Delhi Gate side to the designated parking lots.
Major roads will remain closed during Independence Day
- Netaji Subhash Marg from Delhi Gate to Chatta Rail
- Lothian Road from GPO to Chatta Rail
- SP Mukherjee Marg from HC Sen Marg to Yamuna Bazar Chowk
- Chandni Chowk Road from Fountain Chowk to Red Fort
- Nishad Raj Marg from Ring Road to Netaji Subhash Marg
- Esplanade Road and its link road to Netaji Subhash Marg
- Ring road from Rajghat to ISBT
- Outer Ring Road from ISBT to IP flyover (Salimgarh bypass)
- The Old Iron Bridge and Geeta Colony Bridge will also be closed.
Vehicles without parking tags may avoid the following routes
