Kolkata Doctor Rape and Murder Case Live Updates: Doctors and other medical staff have been staging protests across the country, affecting the functioning of medical institutions.
The father of a trainee doctor who was raped and murdered at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital early on Sunday expressed displeasure over Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's role in the case.
“We are not happy with the chief minister. We are not happy with the CM. We refuse to accept any compensation,” the victim's father told the media.
He also expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of results following the investigation. “The ongoing investigation has not yielded any results. We hope we will achieve results,” he added.
He also accused Mamata Banerjee of suppressing the protests. “The chief is talking about justice but then trying to jail ordinary people who demand justice. When she herself wants justice she takes to the streets and now she is blocking the public,” he said.
He also claimed that the thoracic department of the hospital where his daughter worked as a trainee was also involved in the crime.
“No one in the department or the college is working with us. The whole department is involved,” he said.
He claimed that although there were other bodies lined up for cremation, his daughter's body was cremated first. “There were three bodies in the crematorium, but our daughter's body was cremated first,” he said.
