In a gruesome incident in central Delhi, a teenager was killed and another injured after an air conditioner fell from a height.
An 18-year-old man was killed and his friend injured when an air-conditioner outdoor unit fell on the second floor of a building in central Delhi and hit him, officials said on Sunday.
Police said the injured Pranshu (17 years old) is currently undergoing treatment and is not suitable to make a statement.
A video of the incident circulated online, showing Jitesh talking to Pranshu while sitting on a scooter in Doriwalan area when the outdoor unit of the air conditioner fell on them, injuring both of them.
“At around 7 pm on Saturday, the Desh Bandhu Road police station received information about an outdoor unit of an air conditioner falling and injuring people. The unit fell from the second floor and hit two boys.
The injured were immediately rushed to the hospital, where doctors declared Jitesh dead on arrival and Puranshu was admitted to the hospital, the official said.
He said the FIR was lodged under Section 125(a) (act endangering life or personal safety of others) and Section 106 (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
He added: “Forensic teams have examined the scene and further investigations are ongoing.”
