Kolkata doctor rape and murder scene: Striking Delhi doctors will provide free outpatient services outside the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Monday even as they protest against the alleged rape and murder of a trainee doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
According to reports, AIIMS' residential medical institution said it will provide free elective outpatient services in at least 36 specialties outside Nirman Bhawan from 11 am.
Hundreds of women took to the streets of Kolkata and other parts of West Bengal on Sunday night (August 18) in a repeat of the midnight protests. Braving intermittent rains, women of different ages and backgrounds gathered in areas such as Jadavpur, Garia, Beharappanashree, Khanna, Lake Town and other city locations and raised slogans – “We want justice ”. Protests similar to the 'Take Back the Night' rally on August 14 were also held at Madhyamgram Chowmatha in North 24 Parganas, Siliguri, Durgapur and other locations.
