According to police officials, the final-year city college student was socializing with friends at a party in Koramangala before his vehicle broke down and he was forced to hitchhike home. The defendant offered her a lift but instead took her to another location where he attacked and raped her.

The police said that the Chandra plan was obviously premeditated. The woman and her son were illegally imprisoned by the gang with the intention of extorting money from them as the son, through his mother (the victim) and two friends, was allegedly involved in handling stolen mobile phones and gold chains.
The gang suspected that the mother-son duo had earned around Rs 2 lakh by selling stolen goods and wanted to extort money from them.
They abducted two persons from their residence in Chandra Layout on August 13 and illegally confined them in the house of two other accused, Prathap and his wife Sowmya, in Kengeri.
The police clarified that “during the illegal detention, some suspects physically and sexually assaulted the mother and son, but no sexual intercourse occurred.” After a series of attacks and detaining them for several days, the defendants realized that the victims did not get what they had wanted the money and released them with a warning.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Western Zone) said: “After their release, the two lodged a complaint with the Chandra Layout Police Station and a case has been opened against the accused for kidnapping, illegal confinement, extortion, physical assault and sexual assault.” S Giri Varied.
